What litter should be used for a cat after surgery?

After neutering or other surgery, vets often advise using a non-clumping, dust-free litter such as paper for a few days so it does not get into the wound. Follow your own vet's instructions.

What kind of litter box suits a cat with arthritis?

A cat with joint pain does well with a large box with a very low entry or one lowered side, and soft, fine litter. If the cat avoids the box because of pain, it is worth seeing a vet about pain relief.

Can a cat with asthma use any litter?

Cats with asthma or sensitive airways are often advised to use dust-free, unscented litter such as paper, wood pellets or silica. It is worth discussing the right option with a vet.

What do the size and number of litter clumps show?

Scooping daily shows you how often and how much the cat urinates. If there are suddenly many more clumps or they are much larger, the cat may be drinking more, which can be a sign of some illnesses; if there are very few or none, see a vet urgently.

What should I do if I see blood in the cat's litter or faeces?

Blood in urine or faeces is not normal and can point to urinary, gut or other health problems. See a vet as soon as possible, and if the cat cannot urinate, go immediately.

How should cat litter be stored at home?

Keep litter in a dry place in a tightly closed bag or box, because when it gets damp it clumps in the pack or starts to go mouldy. With plant-based litter it is especially important to protect it from damp and pests.

Does cat litter have a shelf life?

Mineral and silica litter kept dry hardly deteriorate, but plant-based litter can eventually get damp, go mouldy or lose its odour control. If the pack has a date, it is worth respecting it.

What size pack of cat litter should I buy?

Larger packs are often cheaper per kilogram or litre, but they are heavy and take up space. When trying a new litter for the first time, buy a smaller pack to make sure your cat likes it.

How do I compare cat litter prices?

Litter is sold by kilograms or litres, so litter of the same type is easiest to compare by price per unit. On zoogidas.lt litter can be compared by price per kilogram or litre across Lithuanian online shops.

Why is more expensive cat litter sometimes cheaper in use?

Firmly clumping or long-lasting litter is used up more slowly, because you only remove what got wet, so it can cost less per month. When comparing, consider not only the pack price but also how long it lasts.

Can I buy cat litter on zoogidas.lt?

No, zoogidas.lt sells nothing: the site compares prices across Lithuanian online pet shops. You buy the litter on the chosen shop's website.

How often does zoogidas.lt update cat litter prices?

Prices are collected about daily, and each product shows when its price was last checked. The product page also shows price history, so you can see how the price has changed.

Is it worth buying a big bag of cat litter at once?

If the cat already uses the litter and you have a dry place to keep it, a bigger bag is often cheaper per kilogram. Remember that bentonite bags are very heavy, so delivery can be convenient.

Can different types of cat litter be mixed?

Mixing is fine while switching to a new litter, but mixing permanently, for example silica with clumping, makes clumps form less well and upkeep harder. It is better to choose one type that suits the cat.

Can clumping litter be mixed with wood pellets?

Some owners mix them to make the litter lighter and less tracked, but the clumps become less firm. If you do this, watch whether the cat keeps using the box happily.

How do I manage a litter box on a long car trip with a cat?

For a long trip, take a small or foldable box with the usual litter and offer it during stops, while the car is parked and the doors are shut. For a short trip, an absorbent pad in the bottom of the carrier is enough.

What is a foldable travel litter box?

It is a box made of waterproof fabric or silicone that can be folded and easily taken along. It is handy for trips, hotels or a summer house, but usually less durable for everyday use at home.

What are disposable cat litter boxes?

Disposable boxes are made of cardboard or recycled paper and are thrown away together with the litter. They are handy for trips, temporary fostering or infectious illness, when you want to replace the box with a new one.

What should I tell a cat sitter about the litter box?

Leave enough litter, the scoop and bags, and say how often to scoop the box and where to throw the litter away. Ask them to let you know if the cat urinates much more or less often or outside the box.

Does an outdoor cat need a litter box?

Yes, it is worth having a box indoors as well, because the cat may stay inside due to the weather, illness or at night. A box also helps you notice whether the cat's urination and bowel movements are normal.
