Cookie policy

Last updated 2026-08-02. The short version: browsing, searching and comparing prices sets no cookie at all. Two functional cookies appear only when you take an action yourself (choosing a language, signing in). The Google Analytics script loads on every page, but until you click "Accept all" it only sends anonymous, cookieless data with no persistent identifier — the cookie tied to you specifically is only set after your explicit consent.

No cookie without your OK

Verified directly: the homepage, search page and every page you can reach without signing in carry no Set-Cookie header at all. The Google Analytics cookie tied to you specifically is only set after you click "Accept all".

Two functional cookies

PHPSESSID — issued when you sign in or register, keeps you logged in. locale — issued only when you switch language in the header or footer, remembers your choice. Neither one tracks anything.

Google Analytics — on your terms

The script loads on every page and sends Google anonymous, cookieless data — that lets Google estimate overall traffic even for visitors who never consent. Data tied to you specifically, and the cookie, are only sent once you click "Accept all".

1. Introduction

This policy explains how zoogidas.lt uses cookies and similar browser storage technologies. The short answer: just browsing the site sets nothing at all; every cookie we set — at most two — is functional and only ever appears as the result of your own action (choosing a language, or signing in).

This page exists not because we have a complex cookie set to explain, but because transparency also covers simple, verifiable truths — including exactly what each cookie we do set actually does.

2. What cookies are

A cookie is a small text file a site can ask the browser to store and send back with every later request. They are usually grouped into a few categories:

Essential — needed for core functionality, such as keeping a sign-in session or a shopping cart.

Analytics — help a site owner understand how visitors use the pages.

Marketing / affiliate — track clicks or purchases so partner networks can credit a sale to the site.

These categories describe cookies in general. The next section states plainly which of them zoogidas.lt actually uses: two essential cookies (always, no extra consent needed, since they are required for that feature to work) and one analytics cookie (Google Analytics, only with your explicit consent). No marketing cookie at all.

3. Cookies we set

The two essential cookies appear only as the result of your own action (no extra consent prompt, since they are required for that specific feature). The Google Analytics cookie is only set once you click "Accept all" in the cookie banner — until then the script runs cookie-free. No marketing cookie exists at all. Verified directly through the server response headers of several pages, not merely stated.

Cookie name Provider Purpose Duration
PHPSESSID zoogidas.lt Keeps you signed in across pages (Symfony session). Until you sign out, or the browser session ends.
locale zoogidas.lt Remembers your chosen language (LT/EN) so you don't have to pick it again on every page. 1 year, or until you delete it yourself.
_ga, _ga_* Google Analytics Analytics — how many visitors, which pages are popular. This cookie is only set after you click "Accept all"; until then the Google script runs without it and without any persistent identifier. Up to 2 years (Google's default).

Neither essential cookie is set just from loading a page — the session only starts once you submit the sign-in or registration form, and "locale" only once you click the language switcher. The Google Analytics cookie is likewise never set just from loading a page or before you decide — only once you click "Accept all". The one difference: the Google script itself (not the cookie) currently loads on every page while Google Analytics is enabled site-wide — see "Third-party cookies" below for why.

4. Third-party cookies

In production the site runs behind the Cloudflare network, which protects it from abuse and automated traffic. Cloudflare may set its own technical security cookies on its own infrastructure (for example, bot-protection cookies) — this happens on Cloudflare's side, not in our application code, and is governed by Cloudflare's own privacy policy, not ours.

Google Analytics uses Google's "Consent Mode". The Google script loads on every page — this is what lets Google estimate overall traffic even for visitors who never consent. Until you click "Accept all", the script sends Google only anonymous, cookieless signals with no identifier tied to you. Once you click "Accept all", the _ga cookie described above is set and Google starts receiving ordinary, personally-linked analytics data (pages visited, approximate location by IP). More on how Google handles this data: Google Privacy Policy.

Since the site has no ad banners or affiliate tracking links, there are no other third-party cookies today.

5. Your choices

If you never create an account, never switch language, and never click "Accept all" in the cookie banner, the site sets no cookie at all, so your browser's cookie settings (blocking, deleting, "Do Not Track") make no difference.

  • The two functional cookies (session, language) are plain cookies, not trackers — blocking either just loses you that one feature.
  • Google Analytics — the Google script loads for every visitor, but until you click "Accept all" in the banner at the bottom of the page, it only sends anonymous, cookieless data with nothing tied to you specifically. Click "Reject", or simply don't choose, and it stays that way — the _ga cookie is never set. You can change your mind any time — clear this site's browser storage (localStorage) and the banner reappears.
  • Want to verify it yourself? Open zoogidas.lt in any browser's developer tools (Network tab) — the homepage and search page send no Set-Cookie header; only submitting the sign-in/registration form, using the language switcher, or accepting the cookie banner does.
  • If we ever add a marketing cookie, this policy will be updated in advance to describe exactly what we set and why.
