How often does zoogidas.lt update aquarium decoration prices?
Prices are collected about daily, and each product shows when its price was last checked. Product pages also show price history, so you can judge whether the current price is usual.
What should I look for when buying heavy aquarium rocks online?
When buying rocks online, the rock type, weight, size and whether it affects water hardness all matter, so read the description carefully. Every natural rock is different, so the photo may not match the shape you receive, and heavy parcels often have different delivery terms.
Is an air stone or bubble wall suitable as aquarium decor?
Air stones and bubble walls run from an air pump add oxygen to the water and create a decorative bubble effect. They can be hidden behind rocks or in the substrate, but in a planted tank with CO2 heavy daytime bubbling is best avoided.

Air-driven moving decorations such as opening treasure chests or water wheels are usually harmless to fish, provided there are no spots where a fish could get trapped. Sudden movement frightens some shy fish, so watch how they behave.
Are floating decorations suitable for an aquarium?
Floating decor such as logs or artificial leaves gives shade and cover to surface fish, bettas or spawning fish. It should not cover the whole surface, as that hinders gas exchange and light for plants.
Can aquarium decorations be fixed to the glass with suction cups?
Yes, small decorations, betta hammocks and floating leaves are often fixed with suction cups. Over time suction cups stiffen and come loose, so check them regularly and replace them as needed.
Are aquarium decorations with LED lighting safe?
Decorations with LEDs made for aquariums are sealed and run at low voltage, so they are safe as long as the casing and cable are undamaged. Route the cable with a drip loop and switch the lighting off at night.
What decorations does a quarantine tank need?
A quarantine tank should have few, easy-to-clean decorations, such as a few plastic plants and a PVC pipe or ceramic hide. A bare bottom makes it easier to watch the fish and keep things clean, while porous decor can absorb medications.
Do aquarium decorations absorb fish medications?
Porous rocks, wood, substrate and especially activated carbon can absorb some medication, and some treatments stain silicone or decor. That is why treatment is easier in a quarantine tank; use medications as your vet directs.
Do aquarium decorations fade in the light?
Painted resin and plastic decor can fade over time from light and cleaning, while natural rock and wood keep their colour longer, though wood may darken or lighten with age. Faded decor can be replaced, if it is not flaking.
Do mineral stones for shrimp change aquarium water?
Mineral stones and clay pieces for shrimp are meant to release minerals important for shell formation, so they can raise hardness slightly. Use them as the manufacturer directs and monitor water parameters, especially in a soft-water shrimp tank.
Do aquarium decorations matter to fish, or are they just for looks?
Decor is not just ornamental: it gives fish hiding, resting and spawning places, breaks lines of sight between territorial fish and provides surface for beneficial bacteria. In a completely bare tank many fish feel unsafe and stressed.
Can an aquarium have too many decorations?
Yes: too much decor takes away swimming room, displaces water, creates dirt traps and makes cleaning harder. Leave a large open space for active schooling fish and goldfish, and keep decor to the sides and back.
How do I smooth sharp edges on a rock or decoration?
Smooth sharp edges with sandpaper, a file or another rock until the surface feels smooth to the touch. Rinse the piece well afterwards to wash off all the dust, and test it with a nylon stocking to check nothing snags.
Can I fasten aquarium decorations with cable ties or fishing line?
Yes, cable ties and fishing line are often used to bind branches or tie plants to decor, as they do not harm the water. Trim the tie ends short and hide them, and the line can be removed once the plants have attached.
How do I join several branches into one aquarium layout?
Branches can be joined with stainless steel screws or pins, wooden dowels, cable ties or aquarium-safe glue. Soak the branches before joining them so they do not float, and test the layout dry first.
Can I glue driftwood to the aquarium glass?
You can with aquarium-safe silicone, but the wood will then be hard to take out for cleaning or rescaping, and buoyant wood can pull free. More often wood is fixed to a rock or slab buried in the substrate.
What are the tiny white worms on aquarium glass and decorations?
Tiny white worms are usually planarians or nematodes, which multiply when there is a lot of leftover food. Many are harmless to fish, but planarians can harm shrimp, so feed less and clean the substrate more often.
