Category II — Semi-longhair

Maine Coon

The Maine Coon is a native of the northeastern United States and the state cat of Maine, and it is among the largest domestic cat breeds. Males typically weigh around 6 to 9 kilograms and mature slowly, often reaching full size only at three to five years. The long, shaggy double coat is water-resistant, fuller on the ruff, belly and tail, and the ears are tufted and the muzzle broad. Combing at least once a week keeps the coat free of tangles. The breed is known for a gentle, sociable nature, and instead of meowing it often makes a soft chirping sound. Life expectancy is typically around 12 to 15 years.

Category II — Semi-longhair

Siberian

The Siberian is an old Russian breed that lived for centuries in forests and villages, and it is often regarded as one of the country's symbols. Males typically weigh around 5 to 9 kilograms, with a large, rounded, muscular body, and the powerful hind legs make it a good jumper. The semi-long, dense coat with a thick undercoat gives protection from cold, so it needs more frequent brushing in spring and autumn when it is being shed. The breed is known for being friendly, playful and attached to its family. It reaches maturity more slowly than many breeds. Life expectancy is typically around 11 to 15 years.
