Burmese

The Burmese was developed in the West in the twentieth century from a cat brought from Burma and its descendants, which is where the name comes from. The short, smooth, satin-like coat lies close to the body and needs almost no grooming. Burmese cats are medium-sized but surprisingly heavy for their size because they are muscular, with males typically weighing around 4 to 6 kilograms. The breed is known for being devoted, seeking human company and being talkative, and it dislikes being left alone for long. The traditional colour is a rich brown, although other shades have appeared over time. Life expectancy is typically around 12 to 16 years.

Category III — Shorthair

European Shorthair

The European Shorthair descends from the old farm and house cats found across Europe, and FIFe treats it as a separate breed with its own standard. It is a sturdy, medium-sized cat with a short, smooth coat and a fairly rounded face, typically weighing around 3 to 6.5 kilograms. The coat is simple to care for, and an occasional brushing is enough. The breed is considered hardy and adaptable, enjoying hunting and play but often just as content with quiet. The European Shorthair can come in many colours and patterns. It is not the same as an ordinary house cat, since the standard sets out body shape and coat quality. Life expectancy is typically around 12 to 17 years.
