The diet contains chondroitin, which forms the natural glycosaminoglycan protective layer in the bladder. Struvite urolithiasis is only one of the types of urolithiasis found in cats. It is extremely important to determine the type of stones in the bladder, as each type may require a different dietary strategy (see the urolithiasis control chart in the “SPECIFIC™ diets technical information” section). Due to its composition and high energy value, SPECIFIC™ FCD Crystal Management is also suitable for healthy adult cats with slightly higher energy requirements. Easily digestible and balanced ingredients supply an adult cat with all nutrients necessary for a healthy life. For prevention of recurrent urolithiasis caused by calcium oxalate, ammonium urate or cystine deposits, it is recommended to use SPECIFIC™ FKD/FKW/FKW-P Kidney Support diet. For overweight cats predisposed to struvite urolithiasis, SPECIFIC™ FCD-L Crystal Management Light, SPECIFIC™ FXD Adult or SPECIFIC™ FRD Weight Reduction diets are recommended.
